Porto Cesareo (pronounce Porto Cesàreo, Cisaria in the local dialect) is an Italian town of 5,772 inhabitants in the province of Lecce in Puglia.
Located on the Ionian coast of the Salento peninsula, it is 26.9 km from the provincial capital. It is an important tourist resort in Salento and is home to the Marine Protected Area and the Palude del Conte and Duna Costiera Regional Oriented Nature Reserve.

Palude del Conte Regional Nature Reserve and Coastal Dune

It has an area of ​​1000 hectares and is managed by the municipality of Porto Cesareo. It constitutes an element of continuity with the marine area. It can be divided into three areas:

  • Peninsula of the Strea and archipelago of islets.
  • The “Spunnulate” of Torre Castiglione.
  • The Wood of Arneo.
